About Us

Brit Boy Here!

All the way from Yorkshire, England.

I originally came here on a football/soccer scholarship to a small school in Tennessee in 2007. College is where I first really started cooking. I did not have enough money to eat at restaurants and the cafeteria got old very quick. Growing up, my mum always amazed me at how simple she made the cooking process. After a long day at work, we always had a hearty, substantial homecooked meal for dinner, and this obviously made a massive impression on me. Over the last eight years, I have really expanded my skill set. I love seeing something on TV, or eating a dish at a restaurant and challenging myself to recreate it, whether its smoking meats, Indian dishes or, of course, traditional English food. We are bringing that homemade style of cooking into our street food by using real ingredients for the real flavor to emerge.

What makes us different?

My idea for Brit Boy's came from my love for the traditional Shepherd's Pie with a mashed potato topping.

All of our pies are potato-topped for three reasons:

1. The consistent love of mashed potato.

2. It’s more filling.

3. Easier to eat while on the go so proper street food! We serve elevated, hearty food that can be eaten on the go (if need be) while having the ability to be as creative as we want.

Our menu will remain small to ensure the integrity of the food high. Requests are welcomed with monthly specials planned throughout the year.

As ale is used in most of the dishes. We have partnered with Border Brew in downtown Kansas City who will supply all the desired beverages for the food. Additionally, we are excited to be collaborating with Border Brew to create our own English Brown/Dark Ale that will be used in our pies. I’ve always wanted to be a sponsored by a beer company.

Why Now?

Life happens. As cliche as this sounds... but so true.

Myself and my wife Lizzie ran our own company for almost 12 years but unfortunately lost everything when COVID-19 hit. We pivoted by starting a Power Washing Company and Lizzie got her realtor license while we lived in Seattle. Everything was going great with both businesses doing very well. The decision was made to move to the Kansas City area where Lizzie grew up.

Neither of us had held a “So-called” Corporate job before but this is where we found ourselves within a few months of “Starting again”. Having never been in this environment before, I knew I would excel – Leader, trustworthy, reliable, results-driven… To name but a few. As much as I did excel in the two roles I had since moving my family across the country, circumstances beyond my control took over. One company closed, and then the next fired me with no warning or explanation after hitting above every target given to me.

I didn’t believe a lot of the stories others told me over the years of how toxic those environments can be and you are just a number on a spreadsheet, and at the end of the day, your career is never in your hands. So it’s time to take that back. I hope you enjoy what we have put together here with Brit Boy Street Food. Thank you! – Chris
