FOX4 covered England’s official announcement that Kansas City would be their base camp for the 2026 World Cup, and Brit Boy Street Food featured in the coverage.
What a base camp actually is
Worth explaining, because it isn’t the same as hosting matches.
A World Cup squad needs somewhere to live and train for the length of the tournament — a training ground that meets tournament standards, accommodation, medical facilities, and a media centre where the press can work and hold conferences. Teams stay put and travel out to fixtures.
So the base camp city gets the squad for weeks rather than a match for an afternoon. It’s the difference between a visit and a residency.
Kansas City winning England’s was a bigger deal locally than the headline suggested.
Why a pie business was in a football story

Because there was almost nobody else to ask.
England arriving raises an obvious question — where will several hundred English people find food that tastes like home? In Kansas City, the honest answer was a fairly short list, and we were on it.
Chris is from Leeds and came to the States on a soccer scholarship, so the football connection was real rather than convenient. More on that in the KCTV5 piece.
What happened afterwards

The announcement was February. The tournament came in the summer, and the part we didn’t see coming was ending up inside the camp rather than reacting to it from outside — donating sausage rolls to the English media at a press conference, being invited back, and getting them into the hands of several players.

After the tournament
The camp’s gone. We’re still making pies.
